Over the past decade, the focus on CBD has grown exponentially.
In Europe, where the use of cannabis is prohibited, regulations have been passed allowing the sale of CBD products, provided that THC levels are always below a certain limit dictated by local laws.

The most surprising discovery of this cannabinoid is its ability to reduce tumor masses.
The study published by Molecular Cancer Therapeutics reveals how CBD was administered in a breast cancer cell line. The results reveal that this cannabinoid has the ability to activate a chain of chemical events capable of inducing “apoptosis”. cell death of cancer cells.

CBD interacts with our endocannabinoid system,
in fact, the effects produced by this cannabinoid are triggered by its binding to a number of other receptors, including serotonergic and vanilloids.

However, this molecule is a CB1 antagonist, meaning that it inhibits other molecules, such as THC and 2-AG, from binding to these receptor sites. As a negative allosteric modulator of CB1, CBD has been shown to reduce some of the adverse psychological effects of THC.

CBD is indirectly capable of increasing the levels of endocannabinoids in our body, this could give an explanation for its analgesic and antipsychotic effects. The endocannabinoids anandamide and 2-AG are metabolized (degraded) by the enzyme FAAH (fatty acid amide hydrolase).
CBD inhibits FAAH, temporarily increasing anandamide levels within the periaqueductal gray matter.

The anticonvulsant effects of CBD and the ability to reduce epileptic seizures in some cases, these clinical benefits are highlighted in an article published in the journal Neuropharmacology.
This article explains how CBD-rich cannabis extracts and pure CBD extracts have had more benefits than traditional therapies.

The data taken into consideration were 670 patients, about 60% showed an obvious improvement in seizure frequency. One of the most interesting things was that the CBD-rich extracts showed more benefits than the CBD isolate. The researchers stated that this difference could come from the entourage effect, that is, the ability of terpenes and cannabinoids to act in total synergy.

CBD has also shown anxiolytic, immunosuppressive, neuroprotective, and antioxidant properties in research.
